By now, you probably know that freelancers earn a living by putting in the hours and days to get their projects done.
But how much do you actually earn?
That’s a tough question to answer, especially if you’re trying to figure out if your salary should be increasing.
Freelancers tend to be paid more for less work.
In 2015, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data showed that the average freelance paid $13.50 per hour, compared to $11.35 for full-time workers.
But the gap is widening, according to The College Board, which estimates that freelancing earned $8.4 billion in 2014, while full-timers earned $10.3 billion.
According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the average hourly wage for full time workers in the U.S., at least in 2018, was $13,067.
That’s an increase of almost $3,500 since the beginning of 2015, according to The Economic Policy Institute.
But while a freelancer earning $7.50 an hour in 2018 may make more than the typical full-timer, it’s still not enough to pay for college.
The National Labor Relations Board has ruled that the minimum wage of $7 an hour is not a violation of federal law, which prevents the federal government from passing laws requiring a minimum wage higher than $7 per hour.
The Bureau of Labor statistics also show that the median hourly wage is $16.39, which is an increase of $1,250 since 2012.
A growing number of freelancers are trying to find ways to make ends meet.
Recently, freelance journalist Amy Chua started her own company, Pay It Forward, to pay her rent and other expenses through online ads.
Chua says she started the company because she wanted to pay rent and food at the same time.
“I want to do something to help people pay for their college,” Chua said.
With the increasing demand for online work, the cost of freelancing has skyrocketed, according to A.P.A. reports.
As more people sign up for freelance jobs, the costs for hosting and paying for servers, phone calls, and other online expenses are increasing.
It’s also a sign that the labor market is tightening, according the report.
Last year, a survey of more than 1,200 freelance workers in 25 states and Washington, D.C., found that 40% said they were either working more hours or having fewer hours.
Those who reported working less said they weren’t compensated for their work, said David Hensley, senior director of the Center for Online Learning at the Institute for Human Resource Management.
Another way to make extra money is to work from home, and many freelance professionals choose that option to work.
“It’s a way of getting paid, but it’s also something that’s a big financial burden for many people,” Henslay said.
Another way that freelancer can make extra cash is by selling their services to companies who pay for advertising.
One of the most popular services for selling online ads is the Affiliate Program, which allows you to get paid by companies that you choose to advertise with.
For example, an advertiser might offer to pay your salary to your company through an affiliate program, or the affiliate company will get paid through your own affiliate account.
